Taking the Leap: How I Asked for My Opportunities

In life, we often find ourselves waiting for that perfect opportunity to come knocking. But what if I told you that sometimes, the key isn’t in waiting—it’s in asking? Recently, I learned firsthand how powerful it can be to take initiative and be bold enough to ask for what you want.

I’ve been on a journey to step into the world of speaking—okay, let’s be real, it’s less of a toe-dip and more of a head-first dive! It’s something I’ve been passionate about for a while, but turning that passion into action required a little bravery on my part. I realized that waiting around for someone to notice my potential wasn’t going to get me anywhere. So, I decided to take matters into my own hands.

I reached out to my network—friends, colleagues, past clients, and anyone who had been part of my journey so far. I emailed, called, and messaged, letting them know about my new adventure. I shared my vision and asked them directly to keep me in mind for any upcoming opportunities that may align. Honestly, it felt a very nerve-wracking at first. What if they thought I was being too forward? What if they didn’t have anything to offer?

But here’s the thing: people can’t support you if they don’t know what you’re working towards. By reaching out, I wasn’t just asking for opportunities—I was opening doors for connection and collaboration. And guess what? It worked! I’ve already secured a few speaking opportunities for this year that align perfectly with the growth I’m aiming for.

This experience reminded me of something important: courage and clarity are game changers. Sometimes, the opportunities we dream about aren’t out of reach; they’re just waiting for us to grab them. It takes guts to put yourself out there, but the results can be incredible. I have seen this first hand.
